Overview
This article explains how Next Gen Math manages assignment data across academic years and summer school.
Assignment Data Retention Visualized
To help illustrate how assignment data is displayed over the academic cycle, please see the table below:
NOTE
The academic start and end dates are defined by your district. If your district has not provided these dates, our system uses a default start date of August 1 and a default end date of June 30.
Time Period | Data Displayed | Description |
---|---|---|
Before the New Academic Year | Assignments from the previous school year. | Until the new academic year starts, users see all assignment data up until the designated start date (as provided by your district or the default). |
After the New Academic Year Begins | Summer school assignments only and anything created after the start date. | Once the new academic year begins, only assignments created after the previous year’s end date are displayed. This ensures that any summer school work remains available until the new year ends. |
Roster Data Synchronization
-
Daily SSO Sync:
When you update the SIS for summer school, the new roster data will sync automatically as outlined our established sync schedule—no further action is required. Only update your SIS when you're ready for the changes to take effect. -
Impact on Data Access:
As the roster data updates, the access to assignments and other academic records in Next Gen Math will adjust accordingly. This helps maintain alignment with your district’s enrollment and staffing changes.
Special Consideration for "Summer Schools"
Some districts set up special fictional "summer schools" in their Student Information System (SIS) to simplify data management during the summer session. If your district would like to implement or already uses this configuration:
