The Next Gen Math platform is a great place to turn for ideas, resources, and real-time data! Not only are we fully aligned with state Math Frameworks and the SBAC Blueprint, we also offer a limitless supply of the kinds of questions your students are likely to encounter on the test.
Four Key Areas of the Next Gen Math Platform for SBAC Preparation
Here are four tools in the platform that work together to form a year-long, cohesive program to prepare students for the tests. These are great used in sequence or however they fit in with your current practices!
Diagnostics
We offer two types of pre-built Diagnostics for grades K-8: The Readiness Diagnostic and the Essential Standards Assessment. The Readiness Diagnostic basically covers the previous year’s standards, while the Essential Standards covers the current year’s priority standards.

Standards Builder
The Standards Builder allows you to create custom, standards-based assignments throughout the year, all of which align with the state Framework and the SBAC Blueprint. The Standards Builder is a great tool for everyday use that also prepares students for the spring assessment.
Implementing Standards Builder for SBAC Preparation
Expose Students to State-Test Question Types–Assign varied response formats to ensure familiarity with the rigor and design of SBAC-style questions.
Use Progression Playlist for Seamless Scaffolding—Automatically generate coherent question sequences to help identify and fill learning gaps
Simulate the Online Teaching Experience — Assign practice that mirrors the tests’ digital environment, reinforcing key features such as:
Keypad entry for numerical responses
Flagging questions for review
Navigating between questions
Interacting with multiple question types
Target Practice
Target Practice provides focused practice on grade-level targets, which are groups of related standards. Each Target Practice card includes a description of the target along with the specific standards it covers. Major standards are highlighted in yellow gold, while supporting standards appear in blue.
Implementing NGM's Target Practice for SBAC Preparation:
Spiral Review Without Overload — These more narrow assessments help keep skills fresh while avoiding test fatigue
Differentiate with Blended Learning — Use Target Practice data to assign targeted follow-up practice
Encourage Collaborative Learning — Use the Blended Learning groupings to pair students for peer discussion. Keep Dynamic Questions on to promote discussion
Use an an Adaptive Prep Tool — Follow these steps:
Assign a Target Practice assessment for your desired cluster of standards
Analyze results
Assign follow-up practice using Blended or Individualized Learning
Create a retake for the original Target Practice assignment to monitor growth
Domain Assessments
Domain Assessments offer our most comprehensive sets of assessments. Each Domain Assessment covers a separate Domain and its corresponding targets and standards. The Summative Assessment includes questions for every domain, target, and standard.
