Coming Soon: Canvas Integration
Are you one of the thousands of teachers using Canvas? If so, your workflow is about to get a whole lot easier.
Our Canvas integration is going live soon! This means you’ll be able to seamlessly link your Next Gen Math assignments to your Canvas dashboard. Students can access those assignments directly through Canvas, and their completed work – along with their results – will automatically appear in your Canvas gradebook.
We’re currently beta-testing this feature with select districts, but if you’d like early access, you may be able to join our soft launch! Contact us if your school or district uses Canvas and you'd like to try it out!
Once you're school is connected, you'll just need to follow this simple tutorial to link any assignments to Canvas.
Enhanced Control Over the Restart/Reopen Feature
One of the great things about the Next Gen Math platform is its flexibility—districts, administrators, and teachers all use the platform in ways that best fit their needs. We’re always looking for ways to make our features more useful and customizable, which is why we’ve introduced a new option in the Assignment Settings page. Now, assignment authors can decide whether shared users (teachers whose students receive the assignment) have the ability to reopen or restart an assignment.
Why does this matter? Imagine a 4th-grade team where one teacher creates and assigns a practice activity for all students at that grade level. In this case, it makes sense for classroom teachers to have the ability to reopen or restart the assignment as needed to support student learning. By default, the toggle for this setting is in the “off” position, allowing teachers to make adjustments as necessary.
On the other hand, if a district administrator or math coach creates an assignment to be used as an assessment, accuracy is key—students should only have one attempt to ensure reliable data. In this scenario, the assignment author can switch the toggle to the “on” position, preventing teachers from reopening or restarting the assignment.
This added layer of control helps ensure that assignments are used in the way that best supports student learning and data integrity. We’re excited for you to try it out!
