This Month’s New Features and Improvements
Here’s a December-themed word problem for you:
“If an average of 5 students per period have a cold, and there are 33 students in each class, what is the probability that 98% of students (and 100% of teachers) are ready for winter break?”
Seriously though—December is that magical time of year when excitement, exhaustion, and a sprinkle of chaos converge. While you’re wrapping up lessons (and presents), we’re wrapping up the year with new features designed to lighten your load.
Here’s what’s new this month on the NGM platform:

Text-to-Speech Expansion: Answer Choices
👂🏽Listen up! (Couldn’t resist.)
Our ever-popular Text-to-Speech feature got an upgrade!
In addition to reading questions aloud, TTS now reads the answer choices as well—perfect for:
Younger students (pre-readers and early readers)
ELD students
Students who benefit from auditory support
When enabled, students can listen to every part of every question.
For each assignment, you can:
Turn TTS on for all students
Turn TTS off for all students
Select Student Setting and designate specific students
Let us know what you think. We’re all ears. (I did it again.)
Performance Charts Reimagined
Think of this less as a facelift and more as a major glow-up with new superpowers. 🦸🏽♂️
What used to be a single chart is now a full suite of five interactive charts, each offering a unique lens on student performance.
You can now examine trends by standard, drill into specific stems or questions, and even view student performance question-by-question. It’s data made clearer, more flexible, and more actionable—so you can spend more time teaching.
Besides looking pretty 😍, these charts offer at-a-glance insights to help you address gaps, plan reteaching, and celebrate all those student wins.
