We Need Your Ideas!

Help Us Expand Our “Math in the Wild” Video Series 📐🌳

If you follow Next Gen Math on LinkedIn, Facebook, or YouTube, you may have seen our “Math in the Wild” videos–short,  classroom-ready clips showing math in action, from flipping pancakes to timing roller coasters🎢!

Now we’re turning to you! Hear directly from NGM’s own Ruby, who’s asking for your ideas for upcoming episodes: 🎥 Watch on YouTube

We’d love your ideas for future videos:

  • How do you or your students use math “in the wild”?
  • What real-world topics should we explore next?
  • Which standards or skills would you like to see featured?

👉 Submit your ideas here, and tell us how you’re using our videos in your classroom!

New Features and Offerings

Student Settings Options

We know that not all students need the same support at the same time, so we’ve made it easier for you to manage accommodations and modifications directly in your roster.

You can now customize:

  • Language: English or Spanish
  • Text-to-Speech access
  • Calculator Use

Once set, these preferences can be accessed on the assignments settings page— and you can still adjust them on a per-assignment basis.

Choose the right supports at the right time!

Interactive Graphs in Conceptual Learning

Our Conceptual Understanding library just got more interactive!

Students can now explore graphing concepts hands-on using our Interactive Graphs feature — a “click and draw” tool where they can plot:

Parabolas

Circles

Scatter Plots

Square Roots

…and more!

This update encourages inquiry-based learning and visual reasoning in a fun, exploratory way.

💬 We’d love to hear how your students use this new feature — let us know what you think!

High School Pre-Built Assessments

We’re continuing to expand our high school offerings! This month we’re highlighting some new assessment offerings.

Diagnostics

Now available for 11th Grade Claim 1 and Integrated Math 1, 2, and 3, these diagnostics help teachers assess progress toward end-of-year standards.

Summative Assessment (Found in Domain Assessments)

Our Summative Assessments now include 11th Grade Claim 1! Designed to cover essential standards across all domains, these assessments make it easy to measure growth and prepare for the SBAC — no matter what course students are currently taking.

Quick Tip: Sort By “Standards Taught”

Want to track how well students are retaining what they’ve learned — and how their understanding grows over time? Try using the “Standards Taught” filter in your assignment results.

This powerful view lets you compare overall performance with how students performed on only the standards you’ve already taught, giving you insight into both progress and long-term retention.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Assign an assessment in (for example) September, November, February, and May.
  2. In each assignment’s settings, remove any standards that haven’t been taught yet (they’ll still appear on the student version).
  3. When students complete the assessment, view the results: you’ll see how they did on the entire assessment versus just the standards taught so far.

This perspective helps you:

  • Monitor growth across the year as instruction progresses.
  • Identify which concepts are sticking — and which might need reteaching.
  • Make data-driven adjustments before key benchmarks or summative assessments.

Perfect for use with Diagnostics, Summative Assessments, or Target Practice, this feature helps you focus on what matters most: how well students are mastering — and remembering — what you’ve taught.
