Subitizing Stems Added to Standards Builder
Building number sense is essential, and we’ve made it easier than ever! In addition to our already-created Subitizing section (look under Conceptual Understanding), we’ve added subitizing-based stems to the Standards Builder for Kindergarten (Target D).
Teachers can create assignments that help students transition from subitizing to understanding addition and subtraction. These assignments can be pushed out digitally or printed as worksheets, giving you flexibility in your instruction.

Next Gen Math Quick Tips: Gearing Up for SBAC Success
Go for GOLD!
Even when it’s not Olympics season, we’re always striving to find ways to help you work smarter, not
harder! One way to do that is to focus on the major, or priority, standards.
Did you know? The majority of the SBAC is derived from Claim 1, with most of those questions targeting priority standards!
Achieve the Core recommends teachers dedicate 80% of instructional minutes on the major standards. To simplify this process, we have implemented color-coded indicators within NextGenMath.com.
Using Diagnostics to help prepare your students for the SBAC
Part of preparing your students for the SBAC is figuring out their current levels of proficiency. Our new Diagnostics are a great tool for both assessing current student understanding and offering opportunities for practice, review, reteaching and more.
Our Essential Standards Diagnostics will help you:
- Assess students’ current proficiency levels
- Strategically reteach based on student performance
- Assign an unlimited number of retakes - with new questions each time - to monitor growth over time
- Provide targeted practice on priority standards to familiarize students with test formats (just 25 questions, so no test fatigue!)
