Written Explanations:
Start by selecting your course using the drop down menu at the top of the page.
You’ll see there are all three courses for both the Traditional and Integrated pathways.
In addition, there is an option called Grade 11 CA Test. Let’s start there.
Grade 11 CA Test:
This page is not specific to any particular grade level or course, rather, it includes all of the assessment targets found on the Grade 11 SBAC Blueprint.
The page is organized by Domains and assessment targets. Under the test targets you have tiles for the individual standards that are part of that target.
Standards & Stems
Each standard has multiple stems. A stem is one way of teaching, learning, or assessing a standard.
- The number in parentheses after the standard Is the stem number.
- A film icon within the stem, indicates an instructional video is included for that particular stem.
- The gold stems represent major standards and the blue stems represent supporting standards.
- Green stems are from Claims 2-4
- Hovering over a stem will give you a preview of that question and response type.
Course Page
Rather than testing targets, these pages are organized by Domain and then course clusters as defined by either Common Core State Standards (for Claim 1 questions) or Standards for Mathematical Practice for Claims 2-4.
There are two ways to view your course page: by Course or by Grade 11 CA Test
Course:
The first is by Course, which includes all standards covered by the course.
Any standard tile that is gold or blue is also assessed on the SBAC. Again, the gold are priority standards and the blue are supporting.
The orange tiles are standards that are covered in the course but are not assessed on the SBAC.
CA Grade 11 Test
This page shows the course level standards that are also assessed in the SBAC. This page does not show course only standards. In addition, it only shows tested standards that are covered in the Course page that you are on.
Finding Content
There are three ways to find your content.
First, you can find the domain, cluster, and/or standard you are teaching and then look at the different question types by hovering over the tiles.
Toward the top of the page, there are additional ways to find the exact standards and stems you want. You can search by keyword, which narrows your search to questions addressing that skill or concept.
Additionally, you can filter by response type, claim number, and specific course, challenge stems, and stems that include a built-in calculator.
The search and filter options can be used individually or in tandem with one another.
Finding Content
To the right of the standards and stems, you will find your assignment builder. You’ll add your stem to the builder by either dragging and dropping it in, or by using the plus sign on the tile. Once you’ve added your desired question types and number of questions, you’ll be ready to either print or assign your assignment.
